Caren Weintraub

Director of Communications

Caren Weintraub is the communications director for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. She oversees a creative team including two writers, a web/social media specialist, graphic designer, and a photographer/videographer. Together, the team provides strategic communications and support for undergraduate academic programs, the development team, faculty and staff, alumni and external stakeholders. Caren manages communications strategy, crises, publication development, press releases and media relations. She produces executive content, web content, and provides consultative support for the academic departments, centers and institutes housed within the college. She earned a B.A. in sociology/social service from UC Davis, and an M.S. in communications from Purdue University. She began her tenure as a dedicated UC Davis employee in 2006. She loves to cook (and eat!), is an adequate knitter, loses regularly at strategy games to her husband and adult children, and has a strong desire to create beauty. She can often be found roaming the local agricultural fields and green belts with her anxious yet loyal canine companion, Luna.
