With a focus on food and agricultural sustainability research and education, the institute includes the Student Farm, the UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SAREP), and Russell Ranch, home to The Century Experiment.

Center for Regional Change
Launched in 2007, the Center for Regional Change (CRC) is a catalyst for innovative, collaborative, and action-oriented research. It brings together faculty and students from different disciplines, and builds bridges between university, policy, advocacy, business, philanthropy, and other sectors.
Energy Institute
One of the 21st century’s biggest challenges is transitioning to a sustainable energy future. The UC Davis Energy Institute combines research, education, and outreach programs in energy science, technology, management, and policy to help facilitate this transition and provide new energy solutions.
Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Assets and Market Access
The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Assets and Market Access (AMA Innovation Lab) conducts and supports research on policies and programs designed to help poor and smallholder farmers in developing economies to manage risk, adopt productive technologies and take an active part in economic growth.
Foods for Health Institute
The objectives of the Foods for Health Institute are to guide multidisciplinary research programs drawing on the complementary strengths of the University of California, Davis and its partners to develop assessment technologies that accurately measure health; discover the molecular targets of health that are modifiable by food and lifestyle; and translate the discoveries at the molecular level to personalized food, lifestyle, and education solutions.
Foundation Plant Services
Foundation Plant Services produces, tests, maintains and distributes elite disease-tested plant propagation material; provides plant importation and quarantine, disease testing, virus elimination, and DNA identification services; coordinates release of UC-patented horticultural varieties; and links researchers, nurseries and producers.
Honey and Pollination Center
The Honey and Pollination Center at the Robert Mondavi Institute showcases the importance of honey and pollination to the wellbeing of consumers through education and research.
Institute of the Environment
The Institute of the Environment supports innovation and discovery aimed at solving real-world environmental problems. The institute’s faculty are committed to strengthening the scientific foundation for environmental decision making through collective entrepreneurship, a team-oriented approach that recognizes the complexities of environmental problems and the societal context in which they occur.
Institute of Transportation Studies
The Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Davis (ITS-Davis) is the leading university center in the world on sustainable transportation. It is home to more than 60 affiliated faculty and researchers, 120 graduate students, and a budget of $12 million. While our principal focus is research, we also emphasize education and outreach.
Plant Breeding Center
The Plant Breeding Center (PBC) at UC Davis coordinates and expands plant breeding teaching and research on campus. We are focused on training students to be well rounded, with experience in field-based breeding evaluation and technique, supplemented with understanding of and facility with modern genomics and phenotyping technologies.
Postharvest Technology Center
To reduce postharvest losses and improve the quality, safety and marketability of fresh horticultural products. The Postharvest Technology Center's goals are to be a leading source of research-based information on the postharvest quality, safety and marketability of fresh horticultural products for the produce value chain; to effectively communicate information and knowledge on postharvest technology that enhances the quality, safety and marketability of fresh horticultural products and catalyze innovative; and enhanced collaboration among center members, industry, government, and other academic institutions, nationally and internationally.
Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science
Made possible by the generosity of Robert and Margrit Mondavi, The Robert Mondavi Institute was founded at The University of California, Davis, to enhance our quality of life through wine, brewing, and food science.
UC Davis Olive Center
The UC Davis Olive Center has built a strong university/industry coalition aimed at meeting the research and education needs of olive growers and processors. Since its founding in 2008, the Center has delivered more than $5 million in research and campus resources while supporting itself through product sales, course revenue, research grants, and donations.
Seed Biotechnology Center
The mission of the Seed Biotechnology Center is to mobilize the research, educational and outreach resources of UC Davis in partnership with the seed and biotechnology industries to facilitate discovery and commercialization of new seed technologies for agricultural and consumer benefit.
University of California Agricultural Issues Center
The University of California Agricultural Issues Center (AIC) provides identification and analysis of important issues affecting agriculture in California. AIC provides independent and objective research-based information on a range of critical, emerging agricultural issues and their significance for the economy.
UC Cal Fresh
The University of California CalFresh Nutrition Education Program (UC CalFresh NEP, or just UC CalFresh) is funded through a joint agreement among the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Food and Nutrition Service (USDA/FNS), the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) CalFresh branch, and the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE). UC CalFresh consists of Adult, Family-Centered, and Youth programs operating throughout California.
The Western Institute for Food Safety and Security
The mission of the Western Institute for Food Safety and Security (WIFSS) is to conduct research and provide outreach programs that will enhance food safety and defense in all sectors of the food system continuum from environment to consumer.
World Food Center
The World Food Center (WFC) mobilizes the research, educational and outreach resources of UC Davis, in partnership with consumers, public and philanthropic entities, and the agricultural, marine and food industries, to promote innovative, sustainable and equitable food systems.
