In a UC Davis career spanning more than 60 years, extension specialist Reuben Albaugh (deceased) played a leading role in the development of California's livestock industry. He was a sought-after speaker and consultant in his field.
William Allewelt served as president emeritus of Tri-Valley Growers and chair of the Davis-based University of California Agricultural Issues Center Advisory Committee. He serves on the college's Policy Advisory Committee and is the recipient of the UC Davis Distinguished Alumnus Award.
An unsolicited gift from the Fred H. Bixby Company to the university in 1949 provided on-farm experiences for agricultural students. The gift created the Agricultural Practices Program, which later merged with the campus-wide Internship and Career Center.

He also bred most of California's disease-resistant asparagus and developed several internationally produced sweet potato varieties.
Douglas Muhleman rose to the rank of resident brewmaster with Anheuser-Busch Company seven years after receiving his master's degree in food science and technology. He paved the way for other UC Davis graduates hired by the company and motivated the company to provide internships and gifts to support UC Davis' brewing program.
Evelyne and Richard Rominger, both UC Davis undergraduates, have been champions of the college and California agriculture for more than 40 years. Richard was the director of the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the U.S. Deputy Agriculture Secretary.

As president of the California Farm Bureau Federation, Henry Voss (deceased) created the Ag in the Classroom Program designed to provide the urban population an understanding of and appreciation for agriculture. Voss was appointed director of the California Department of Food and Agriculture by Gov. George Deukmejian.
Robert Wetzel is an internationally renowned expert in limnology, the study of the life and phenomena of lakes, ponds and streams. Wetzel received his Ph.D. in zoology and environmental sciences from UC Davis in 1962 and was a professor and research scientist at the University of Michigan.
