Awards and Honors: Professor Moyle elected as AAAS Fellow

Peter Moyle is among seven faculty members newly elected as fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Seven UC Davis faculty members are included in the newest class of fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The AAAS Council recently voted in 391 fellows in all for 2016, in recognition of their efforts to advance science or its applications.

Awards and Honors: Agroecologist Amélie Gaudin named “new innovator”

Foundation supports researchers to help expand food availability and sustainable agriculture practices.

Amélie Gaudin, assistant professor of agroecology, has been awarded the 2016 New Innovator in Food and Agriculture Award from the Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research (FFAR).

The award helps fund the work of new faculty and their teams of students and scholars to conduct research with the potential to expand food availability and encourage sustainable agriculture practices. 

Awards and Honors: Kelt is president-elect of American Society of Mammalogists

Professor Douglas Kelt in the Department of Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology is the president-elect of the ASM.

“This is a highly prestigious position in one of the United States’ oldest and most influential scientific societies,” said WFCB department chair John Eadie. “Professor Kelt’s election is a great honor for the Department of Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Science, and the UC Davis campus.”

Small department, big impact

Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology ranked #1

Faculty in the UC Davis Department of Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology were recently ranked No.1 in the nation for research productivity and impact. WFCB emerged with the top ranking in a comprehensive analysis of 33 research-extensive universities in the United States that belong to the National Association of University Fisheries and Wildlife Programs.

Two CA&ES graduates among six UC Davis recipients

Two graduates of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences are among six UC Davis students and alumni to be awarded a grant under the Fulbright U.S. Student Program to study and work abroad as cultural ambassadors.

Courtney Jallo

 

Courtney Jallo is both an alumna and employee of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. She plans to research land management practices and agroforestry important to the Kandy area of Sri Lanka.
