Annual auction June 24 at the UC Davis Horse Barn

Whoa Nelly! The annual horse auction will be held Saturday, June 24, at the UC Davis Horse Barn on LaRue Road. For sale will be a variety of horses, including a weanling, 13 yearlings, two broodmares, a gelding riding horse, and two mules fathered by the late and legendary donkey, Action Jackson. All yearlings and the weanling were bred at the UC Davis Horse Barn and raised by students.

According to Horse Barn manager Amy McLean, the horses are up-to-date on vaccinations, deworming, and hoof care. Student interns who’ve served as foal managers and stud managers will be on hand to answer questions about the foals for sale and the stallions for stud.

The sale preview begins at 3:30 p.m. The top sirloin barbecue, for $9 per person, begins at 4:30 p.m. The horse sale begins at 6 p.m.
