UC Davis Olive Center, Séka Hills to Release Limited Edition Olio Nuovo Olive Oil

The Olive Center at UC Davis is teaming up with the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation and the tribe’s Séka Hills line of agriculture products to create a blend of Olio Nuovo, the freshest type of extra virgin olive oil available.

The Olio Nuovo was produced from the first harvest of the season and bottled right after the olives were milled to make it readily available to the public.

A Message From the Dean - November 2019

Gratitude for the CA&ES family

November is one of my favorite months. The softer light of day, colorful displays of fall foliage and the sound of migrating waterfowl overhead always make me pause and reflect on the many reasons to feel grateful.

UC Davis Olive Center

The UC Davis Olive Center has built a strong university/industry coalition aimed at meeting the research and education needs of olive growers and processors. Since its founding in 2008, the Center has delivered more than $5 million in research and campus resources while supporting itself through product sales, course revenue, research grants, and donations.

UC Davis students try their hand at harvesting olives from campus research groves

Quality olive oil starts with freshly picked olives, rushed to the mill for pressing. In late November, UC Davis students got a taste of the effort involved in harvest by hand-gathering fruit from olive trees at campus research groves.
